Community History & Heritage

Indigenous Roots of Altadena
Altadena is located on the ancestral lands of the Tongva people, whose presence in the region long predates modern development. Their deep connection to the land shaped the area through generations, long before neighborhoods and city boundaries were established.
Recognizing these Indigenous roots is an important part of understanding Altadena’s history and the land on which the community exists today.
